Twitter and the library

Can twitter really be used in a library setting? Absolutely!! There are plenty of ways a librarian can benefit from Twitter.
How can it be used in a library setting?
1. update patrons on new book arrivals
2. keep followers current on special events happening in the library
3. connect with other librarians
4. get feedback from the library patrons
5. alert patrons about late fees, when requested materials are available or when it gets close to closing time

It can also be used to follow fellow librarians as they share resources, experience and opinions.
1. follow ALA-they have an ALAlibrary account as well as an ALA_Booklist account
2. use Twellow to search for other librarians on Twitter
3. search for local libraries for networking

Twitter is a great resource for librarians once you know how it can be accessed for the library setting.
